It started with Dance Stacks – Interview with Combeuil Audio’s Founder

Solution One has been fortunate to collaborate for decades with people whose expertise is renowned. According to Chris: “We have the privilege of belonging to an elite that pushes the boundaries of sound. We want to share this experience and the chance that we have.” In order for it to continue, Solution One always forges new collaborations. Ten years ago, Chris met Guillaume Combeuil.

The philosophy of the founder of Combeuil Audio, based in Nantes, is simple: “Love of music, but above all the listening quality and therefore its rendering. These universes complement each other perfectly in my work! My goal is to work with music lovers, artists who feel the music and events with as much intensity. Quality before quantity, passion before money!”

His interests converged at the end of 2013, with the decision to acquire a pair of Dance Stacks, the benchmark in the clubbing world and notably found in the Berghain in Berlin.

“I remember playing for the first time as a DJ on Funktion-One equipment at an Off Nuits Sonores party in Lyon in 2011. The dynamics really struck me. Then the decisive experience came at Berghain in 2012, surrounded by six DS210 and DS 15, 16 F218 and two IB 218. The immersion, the power of the sound, its physicality, the absence of harshness, I fell in love with this system.”

Combeuil Audio’s main activity is providing the system for events of hundreds of people that are demanding in terms of sound quality. The summer season allows him to fully deploy the capacity of its Funktion-One diffusion systems through events that can bring together several thousand audiophiles from diverse musical universes.

“As a sound system provider, my goal is to transmit audio from the artist to the audience. I want to do it in the best way I can, and for the audience to feel it.”

The summer of 2022 saw Combeuil Audio apply these principles to many events : “We had a lot of great moments, including the 6th anniversary of Viatiques in Bordeaux and the Nord Fiction Festival in Normandy. Another that stands out is Goûtez Electronique, where we play house music for around 3,000 people next to the river in the city centre. In my hometown, we also really enjoyed the return of the Sunday nights ‘Days’ parties, where we use four stacks (1 x F124, 1 x F215 Mk2, 1 x Evo 6SH), vinyl records, and a rotary mixer. Full of good vibes for about 300 people!“

The addition of a complete Evo 7T system to the rental stock during the winter proved to be a wise decision. The choice of this system has broadened the spectrum of possibilities in its sound system capabilities for different events and being able to provide for events of thousands of people.

“For me, Funktion-One audio systems have a special dynamic in the low-mids, as well as the presence of the mids, and the speakers also have a rather distinctive look.”

We share this passion and love of performance in the musicality that now binds us together with Guillaume, thanks to Funktion-One and through Solution One.
